Academic Policies
Report Cards and Report Slips
Students will receive report cards at the end of each nine weeks. Report slips will be sent home at the mid-point of each nine-week grading period. The report slips are due back the next morning bearing the parent’s signature.
Heritage Christian School also utilizes the Jupiter App for grading, attendance, financial account management, calendars, forms and more; allowing parents and students to check their grades online and contact instructors and administrative staff anytime.
The Jupiter App is also used for remote learning days.
Academic Honors
Academic honors are determined based upon the Grade Point Average (GPA) earned for all courses taken in high school as calculated through May 1 of the Senior year. The Valedictorian must have attended Heritage Christian School their sophomore, junior and senior years of high school and have the highest overall GPA with a minimum GPA of 3.3. The Salutatorian must have attended HCS for at least two full years and have the second highest overall GPA with a minimum of 3.0.
Graduation Requirements
Heritage Christian School follows the University of North Carolina minimum course requirements for a College Preparatory diploma.. Juniors are required to take the ACT, and seniors are encouraged to take the ACT to improve their scores.
The School Day
​​Students must be in their classrooms by 8:10 AM. School dismissal is 3:00 p.m. Students who are not staying for Extended School Day must be picked up by 3:20 p.m.
ARRIVAL
Students should arrive no earlier than 7:45 unless they are enrolled in Extended School Day. Students who arrive before 8:05 should go directly to the gymnasium. Students who arrive after 8:05 should go directly to their classrooms. Please drop your children off near the school entrance in the bottom parking lot and move as quickly as possible so others can drop off their children. Small children should exit the car on the side of the school building. This will prevent children from accidentally stepping in front of an approaching car.
DISMISSAL
Students must be picked up at the dismissal times listed above. We request that you not ask for students to be dismissed early. Students will be brought to the car-loading area located at the back of the gymnasium at dismissal time. After 3:15 students are taken to Extended School Day. Parents will be charged for Extended School Day if students are not picked up by 3:20.
In order to provide for the safety of our students and to expedite the flow of traffic, we ask that you drive very slowly in the parking lot and follow the traffic pattern outlined at Orientation.
